Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
This disorder is identified by the sufferer having repetitive thoughts, concerns or doing the same activity repeatedly, in a very ordered and precise way. By doing this they feel relieved in the short term, though they soon feel the need to repeat them. These thoughts, concerns and behaviours are unreasonable and interfere with their normal routine.
Their anxiety is a result of a particular way of thinking. There are many positive aspects of having an ordered mind and we harness that, whilst educating the individuals about boundaries of the thinking mind. They need to learn to slow this automatic stress response down and observe the emotions and corresponding beliefs that are causing their distress. This, along with emotive therapy techniques are the only way to treat the cause and make long term lasting change.
